The Yakuza Spin-Off "Like a Dragon Gaiden" Will Not Be Released with an English Dub

The Yakuza spin-off, "Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name," is not initially launching with an English dub option, but it will receive an update with this feature at a later date.

For players anticipating the new English voice actor for the long-standing protagonist, Kiryu Kazuma, some patience is required. When the game releases on November 9, it will only offer Japanese audio with English subtitles.

Yong Yea, the replacement for Darryl Kurylo as Kiryu in "Like a Dragon Gaiden," shared this news on Twitter just a few weeks before the game's launch. However, the tweet did not specify when the English dub would be added.

Yong Yea's tweet stated, "Since Like A Dragon: Gaiden is a few weeks away and many may not know about this, thought I should let you know the English dub will not be available on the November 9 launch date and will release as a post-launch patch."

In contrast, the proper sequel, "Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth," which is essentially Yakuza 8 after the series' name change, is scheduled to launch on January 26 and will include an English dub option, as indicated on its Steam page.

"Like a Dragon Gaiden" serves as a digital-only side story connected to "Yakuza: Like a Dragon" (also known as Yakuza 7), shifting the focus to Kiryu's journey instead of Ichiban Kasuga's. This transition in the series' main character took place after the events of "Yakuza 6: The Song of Life."
