TGS 2024: Sega and Atlus Dazzle with Exciting Reveals and Booth Tour

For gaming enthusiasts in Japan and beyond, late September marks a thrilling time as they anticipate the latest and greatest titles from both AAA developers and indie creators. Sega, an industry icon, remains a prominent force at Tokyo Game Show (TGS), and their 2024 showcase promises no less.

Held from 26 to 29 September, this year’s TGS follows the familiar format, hosted once again at Makuhari Messe. The weekend will be open to the public, featuring demo areas, mascot appearances, special performances, and spectacular booth setups following the conclusion of the business days.

Leading Sega’s TGS 2024 lineup are Metaphor: ReFantazio, a highly anticipated RPG from Persona developer Atlus, Sonic X Shadow Generations, and Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. Their booth dominates the show floor, with a towering Shadow the Hedgehog centerpiece. Visitors who time their visits right can also catch live appearances from Sonic and his friends—Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose.

In a nod to standout characters, Like a Dragon fan-favorite Majima Goro takes center stage aboard an elaborate pirate ship. Replacing Kazuma Kiryu, Majima embraces the pirate life in this latest installment set in Hawaii, showcasing his iconic swagger in full pirate regalia. Special guests like Yakuza VTuber Kson, featured in Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, are scheduled to make appearances.

New titles also share the spotlight. Over at the Metaphor: ReFantazio booth, an impressive Seeker Archetype statue captures attention while fans line up to try the game, its visuals commanding the booth’s space. Atlus fans can also experience Persona 5: The Phantom X, ensuring that Persona remains a focal point at the show.

Both Metaphor: ReFantazio and Persona 5: The Phantom X have dedicated stage time, complete with cosplayer appearances and live performances. Meanwhile, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii offers a distinct presentation style, and Sonic X Shadow Generations and Sonic Rumble get their own showcase slots. Each presentation runs about 10 to 20 minutes.
