Silent Hill 2 Remake Console Exclusive to PS5 for One Year
Sony has announced that the Silent Hill 2 remake will be a PlayStation 5 console exclusive for one year.
As reported by Eurogamer, a new trailer on the PlayStation YouTube channel confirms that the remake will not be available on “other platforms” until October 8, 2025, at the earliest. The game is set to launch on PC and PS5 on October 8, 2024.
While the term “other platforms” is somewhat ambiguous, it likely refers to Xbox consoles (Series X and S) and possibly the next-generation Nintendo console, known as Switch 2. The remake will also be compatible with the upcoming PS5 Pro, launching on November 7.
Sony’s collaboration with Konami for Silent Hill 2 has resulted in a year-long exclusivity period, along with comprehensive support for the DualSense controller’s features, such as haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a dynamic lightbar that indicates protagonist James’ health status.
Silent Hill 2 is a remake of the 2001 psychological horror classic, where players follow James Sunderland after receiving a mysterious letter from his deceased wife, Mary, as he navigates the nightmarish town filled with terrifying creatures.
Earlier this month, the first 90 minutes of gameplay were leaked online, showcasing the beginning of the game. This segment accounts for just under 10% of the total experience, with Bloober Team estimating a completion time of “around 16 to 18 hours.” The remake will introduce various gameplay changes but will maintain the original story intact, as Bloober has committed to preserving the plot elements of the classic game.
