Metaphor: ReFantazio Surpasses 1 Million Sales in Just One Day of Release

announced by publisher Sega.

This achievement makes Metaphor: ReFantazio the fastest-selling Atlus game ever, overtaking Persona 3 Reload, which took a week to reach the same milestone.

Launched globally on October 11, Metaphor: ReFantazio has quickly climbed Steam’s most-played list, with 42,992 concurrent players at the time of writing. Those numbers are expected to rise over the weekend as more fans get their hands on the game across different regions.

The game is also available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, although player data for these platforms remains undisclosed. With such a strong start, it wouldn’t be surprising if sales doubled to two million soon.

Atlus shared the sales news alongside an exclusive illustration from renowned character designer Shigenori Soejima.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is a role-playing game set in the fantasy kingdom of Euchronia, drawing parallels to real-world medieval settings. Players take on the role of an orphan boy embarking on a journey across the kingdom as he vies for the throne. From the creators behind the hit Persona series, the game has garnered widespread praise.

As part of its marketing campaign, Sega also offered UK fans the chance to join the royal family of Sealand, the world’s smallest unofficial country.
