Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Unveils Officially Announced Map and a Trove of Additional Info
In today's COD Next presentation, Activision unveiled the full details of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, showcasing an exciting new city-themed Warzone 2 map. This map, called Urzikstan, promises to be an "urban battleground" and will be available for both Battle Royale and Plunder modes from the game's launch.
Urzikstan, originally introduced as a country in the 2019 game Modern Warfare, is now receiving its dedicated map. The map is characterized by its densely packed urban environment, featuring apartments and industrial areas. What sets it apart are the various means of navigation it offers. For the first time in the franchise, players will have access to a controllable train that can be driven in different directions and stopped by opposing teams. Additionally, the map boasts several horizontal zip lines and includes the Urzikstan Gulag, a dark and eerie area with three combat lanes.
The introduction of these innovative transportation options is well-suited for a map teeming with points of interest. As highlighted in today's presentation, these points of interest encompass the bustling Zaravan City, the opulent Shahin Manor, and the run-down Old Town.
Furthermore, Activision didn't stop at just the new map; they also unveiled a range of fresh and updated gameplay mechanics. This includes the ability to aim down sights while sliding, the capability to cancel slides seamlessly, and the welcome return of the classic red dots on the minimap. Additionally, they excitedly announced the comeback of the Vondel and Ashika Island maps for the Resurgence game mode.
When Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III launches on November 10, Urzikstan will become part of an impressive roster that includes both classic maps and new game modes. Before its full release, the game will have a slightly less feature-packed open beta this weekend, open to players on all platforms. For those who can't wait, there have been leaks of gameplay footage prior to the beta release, although Activision has made efforts to remove such content.
