Assassin's Creed Shadows Delay Sparks Showdown With Ghost of Yotei, but Ubisoft CEO Sees Room for Both

With the delay of Assassin's Creed Shadows to 2025, it now faces direct competition from Ghost of Yotei, the Ghost of Tsushima sequel revealed during the Sony State of Play. Both games are set in feudal Japan and feature ninjas, samurai, and ronin, leading to comparisons. However, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot believes both can thrive.

“There’s room for two high-quality games,” Guillemot said, highlighting Shadows' dual protagonist system with unique ninja and samurai gameplay.

Now slated for February 2025, Assassin's Creed Shadows will compete against Avowed, Civilization VII, Monster Hunter Wilds, and other major titles. To gain an edge, Ubisoft is launching it on Steam from Day 1 with PS5 Pro enhancements.

Assassin's Creed Shadows arrives February 14 on PS5, Xbox, and PC, while Ghost of Yotei is expected to launch by year-end.
